Triumph on the Peaks Our 10 in 10 and 5 in 5 Success – A Community United for a Life-Saving Cause

On the 5th of October 2024, the Hike with Mike Foundation embarked on a monumental challenge to raise awareness and funds for immediate suicide intervention. With NHS waiting lists stretching to an agonising five months or more, our mission was clear: provide life-saving therapy within 24 hours for those in crisis. To support this vital cause, teams of adventurers tackled the stunning peaks of the Lake District, summiting either 10 peaks in 10 hours or 5 peaks in 5 hours.

A Glorious Morning to Begin the Journey

The day began with a crisp, cloudless sky as several teams set off at dawn. Spirits were high, backpacks were stuffed with snacks, and the mood was lightened by a fair share of cheesy jokes. The sense of camaraderie was palpable as participants braced themselves for the gruelling trek ahead.

A Journey of Determination and Achievement

Covering a route that included Causey Pike, Sail, Crag Hill, Wandope, Whiteless Pike, High Snockrigg, Robinson, Dale Head, High Spy, and Maiden, the challenge tested both physical endurance and mental grit. With distances of 26km (16.1 miles) for the 10-peak route and 13km (8 miles) for the 5-peak route, this was no easy feat.

But what a success it was! Teams pushed their limits, with the majority completing their challenges within the respective timeframes. The triumph was not only in finishing but in the spirit of unity and determination displayed by everyone involved.

An Astonishing Fundraising Achievement

The event raised an incredible £11,899, a testament to the generosity and dedication of all participants and supporters. Special recognition goes to Adam Hildred, who single-handedly raised £955, followed closely by the It’s Nottingham team with £711, Charlotte Perry with £640, and Matt King with £600. Every penny raised brings us closer to our goal of ensuring no one in crisis is left without immediate help.

Thank You to All Who Made It Possible

This day was about more than just hiking, it was about saving lives, building community, and proving that together, we can achieve incredible things. A heartfelt thank you goes out to every participant, supporter, and donor who contributed to making this day a resounding success.
